Official Announcement: Upcell Alliance Bureau Election

We are pleased to announce the election and re-election of key members of the Upcell bureau for a 5-year term, reinforcing our mission to accelerate the growth of the global battery manufacturing ecosystem through collaboration, innovation, and strategic initiatives.

Claude Laperiere re-elected as President

Mr. Claude Laperiere, Global Business Director for Industrial Automation – Powered Batteries at Schneider Electric, has been re-elected as President of Upcell Alliance. Mr. Laperiere is also the founder of the Alliance and brings over 25 years of experience in the machine-building and industrial sectors. As President, he will spearhead the Alliance’s ambitious strategy, lead its international expansion, and bring to life flagship initiatives such as the UTKS project and the Together Consortium, strengthening collaboration across the global battery value chain.

Truls Johansen elected as Vice-President

Mr. Truls Johansen, co-founder and director of strategy at Elinor Batteries, has been elected as Vice-President of Upcell Alliance. With a distinguished career in strategy, design, and development across both private and public sectors in Norway, and as a lecturer in Strategic Design at NTNU, Mr. Johansen will play a central role in shaping the Alliance’s strategic direction and advancing its European initiatives.

Michel Popovic re-elected as Treasurer

Mr. Michel Popovic, CEO of IN-CORE Systèmes, has been re-elected as Treasurer of Upcell Alliance. With extensive expertise in finance, industrial innovation, and business leadership, Mr. Popovic will continue to ensure the Alliance’s financial strength and sustainable growth. His role will be key in supporting the Alliance’s major international initiatives and fostering collaboration across its ecosystem.
Together, this renewed leadership team will guide Upcell Alliance in delivering on its mission: to unite manufacturers, machine builders, academics, and industry stakeholders to accelerate industrialisation, innovation, strengthen industrial capabilities, and drive the growth of a competitive and sustainable global battery industry.
